The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 13 locations in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Delhi, including the residences of former Cabinet Minister Gayatri Prajapati and his family. The searches are part of an ongoing illegal sand mining case initiated by the ED in 2021, based on charges filed by the Uttar Pradesh vigilance department. Prajapati, a former mining minister, is accused of amassing disproportionate assets during his tenure. The ED previously seized properties valued at over ₹13 crore, including flats in Mumbai and land parcels in Lucknow. The agency alleges Prajapati engaged in money laundering by channelling illicit funds through fictitious transactions.
