Indian state-owned refiner Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) has finalized an agreement with BP to procure 1 million barrels per month of US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for four months, sources report. Deliveries are slated to commence in June. Additionally, BPCL has purchased 2 million barrels of WTI crude through a spot tender for loading in April. BPCL routinely procures US oil for its refineries, which possess a total capacity of 706,000 barrels per day (bpd). WTI crude aligns with BPCL’s low-sulphur requirement and offers favorable economics and quality compared to oil from other regions. BPCL anticipates increased crude processing in the upcoming fiscal year, following maintenance shutdowns in the current year. BPCL declined to comment on the matter.
