Deepak Sharma, an executive committee member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), was arrested by Goa police on charges of physically assaulting two women players from Himachal Pradesh-based Khad FC during the Indian Women’s Football League (IWL) second division tournament. The incident occurred when the players accused Sharma, also the owner of the club, of entering their room and assaulting them on March 28. While some players defended Sharma, alleging the accusations were false and that he had never misbehaved with them, he remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
