Air India has successfully concluded the acquisition of its initial A350-900 aircraft via a finance lease facilitated by HSBC through the GIFT City, India’s first International Financial Services Centre. The transaction was managed by the airline’s wholly-owned subsidiary AI Fleet Services Ltd (AIFS) and is the first financing deal from its recent order of 470 aircraft. This strategic move is part of Air India’s broader transformation plan, with the A350-900 aircraft anticipated to arrive in India by year-end. This transaction further positions AIFS as a pivotal entity for wide-body aircraft financing within the Air India Group’s future strategy.
