Alstom, a sustainable mobility company, has initiated the production of its Metropolis driverless trainsets for Chennai Metro’s Phase II at a manufacturing facility in Sricity. The project, valued at Euro 124 million, involves delivering 36 trainsets, each comprising three cars, capable of a top speed of 80 km per hour. The trains are designed for a 26-km corridor with 28 stations. Alstom aims to ensure safe and reliable passenger transport for over 11 million citizens in Chennai. The production began at a ceremony attended by leaders from Chennai Metro Rail and Alstom India.
