Union Home Minister Amit Shah conducted a high-level meeting in New Delhi to assess national readiness for managing floods during the monsoon season. The review included Bihar, Assam, and other eastern states prone to inundation from rising river levels. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim, along with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Jammu and Kashmir, also face monsoon-related issues like landslides and floods. Assam, currently grappling with severe flooding affecting over 1.17 lakh people across 10 districts, has activated numerous relief camps and distribution centers.
