In western Queensland, fossilized bones dating back 100 million years have unveiled a newly identified species of pterosaur named Haliskia peterseni. Discovered in 2021 by Kevin Petersen, curator at Kronosaurus Korner museum, the fossils represent the most complete anhanguerian pterosaur found in Australia. With a wingspan of approximately 4.6 meters, Haliskia was a formidable predator in its time, thriving in an ancient inland sea that once covered central western Queensland. The discovery, led by Curtin University’s Adele Pentland, includes well-preserved lower jaws, teeth, vertebrae.
