Star batsman Babar Azam has been reappointed as Pakistan’s white-ball captain, replacing fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi just two months before the T20 World Cup. The decision came following a unanimous recommendation from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s selection committee. Babar, who had previously stepped down from all three formats after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup, sought assurances about his tenure during a recent meeting with PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi. While Babar will lead the white-ball formats, a decision on the Test captaincy will be deferred until after the World Cup.
