Amidst a severe water crisis in Bangalore, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is implementing measures to save water, targeting big consumers. The board aims to save 60 MLD (Million Litres per Day), which will account for 12% of the city’s daily water deficit this summer. The initiative includes categorizing big consumers and imposing supply cuts accordingly. Initially, a 20% supply cut was announced for 38 bulk users, and now, the cut will extend to other big consumers, mainly commercial establishments, apartment complexes, and industries. These measures are expected to save significant amounts of water daily.
