Champions Bayern Munich faced their third straight defeat with a 3-2 loss against VfL Bochum. The Bavarians, now eight points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen, were reduced to 10 men with Dayot Upamecano sent off for the second consecutive match. The loss adds pressure on coach Thomas Tuchel, following last week’s defeat to Leverkusen and a 1-0 loss to Lazio in the Champions League. The match was interrupted due to fans throwing tennis balls on the pitch in protest of planned foreign investment in the Bundesliga. Bochum completed a comeback with goals from Takuma Asano and Keven Schlotterbeck before Kevin Stoeger’s penalty secured the win.
