The BharatGPT Consortium, backed by Reliance Industries and eight affiliated universities, plans to launch its first large language model (LLM), named Hanooman, next month. The model will work across 11 local languages in four main sectors: healthcare, governance, financial services, and education. Developed in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology universities and supported by wireless carrier Reliance Jio Infocomm, Hanooman aims to make AI more accessible, offering speech-to-text capabilities. This private-public partnership is unique in India and involves major players across different industries. The initiative marks India’s effort to become a significant player in the field of artificial intelligence
