Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has installed a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) on the Siachen Glacier in Ladakh, marking the first-ever mobile communication extension for soldiers deployed at altitudes exceeding 15,500 feet. The Army’s Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps shared this development on social media, emphasizing the significance of the new BTS site on the high-altitude post of the Army. This move allows troops stationed in the world’s highest battlefield to connect with their families while performing duties in challenging conditions. The District Magistrate of Leh also expressed gratitude for the Army’s swift response in erecting a fence and clearing the area for the project.
