A team of CBI officials attempted to take custody of Shajahan Sheikh, accused in the Sandeshkhali ED official attack case, as directed by the Calcutta High Court. However, the transfer was stalled as the West Bengal government moved the Supreme Court against the order. The High Court ordered the state to hand over Sheikh to the CBI by 4.15 p.m. The ED filed a contempt petition, alleging non-compliance with the court’s directives. Meanwhile, the state government sought urgent listing of its plea in the Supreme Court against transferring the probe to the CBI.
