A council housing block in north London has been named “Noor Inayat Khan House” after the British Indian spy and descendant of Tipu Sultan. Noor Inayat Khan, who lived in Camden before joining the Special Operations Executive during World War II, became the first woman dropped behind enemy lines. The naming follows a resident ballot to choose from local historic figures. The ceremony, attended by Keir Starmer and others, commemorates Khan’s bravery and values of religious tolerance, non-violence, and peace. The project is part of Camden Council’s commitment to affordable housing and diversity in public spaces.
