India has rejected Canada’s allegations of Indian interference in the Canadian election process, terming them “baseless.” The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson stated that it is not the Government of India’s policy to interfere in the democratic process of other countries. Instead, he claimed that Canada has been interfering in India’s internal affairs, and India has regularly raised this issue with them. Relations between India and Canada have been strained since September, when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being involved in a murder in British Columbia.
