The Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has requested the Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) to probe allegations by Swiss NGO Public Eye and International Baby Food Action Network regarding Nestle’s baby products having higher sugar content in less developed countries like India. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has also issued a notice to FSSAI concerning this matter. Nestle India refuted the claims, asserting a reduction in added sugar in its baby food products by over 30% in the last five years and emphasizing compliance with CODEX standards and local specifications.
