Low visibility caused by dense morning mist is believed to have led to a tragic accident on the outskirts of Chickballapur, resulting in the death of 13 people. The accident occurred when an overloaded SUV, illegally operating as a ferry service, collided with a parked tanker due to poor visibility. The tanker driver, who had parked the vehicle without switching on parking lights, has been arrested for negligence. The deceased, including the SUV driver, were severely impacted, making identification challenging for the police. The Chief Minister has announced compensation for the families of each victim.
