On June 18, Balasore, Odisha, witnessed a curfew imposition and internet shutdown following violent clashes between two communities. The unrest began over allegations of cow slaughter near a mausoleum during Eid-ul-Adha, escalating into stone-pelting and injuries to civilians and police. Despite initial control measures, further incidents erupted, prompting blank firing by police to contain the violence spreading to different areas. Security has been intensified with over 40 police platoons deployed, resulting in 34 detentions and seven FIRs filed.
