Repolling in six booths of Manipur’s Outer Manipur constituency on April 30 finalized the voting process for the 2024 Lok Sabha election in the state. The repolling, ordered for 17 polling stations across two constituencies, was conducted peacefully with a voter turnout of 81.16%. Chief Electoral Officer Pradeep Kumar Jha stated that despite logistical challenges posed by ongoing conflicts, the election was relatively better compared to previous ones. The state, grappling with ethnic conflict between the valley-based Meitei people and the hills-based Kuki-Zo tribe, witnessed instances of violence during the voting process. This election occurred against the backdrop of a year-long conflict resulting in casualties and displacement of thousands.
