The Tamil Nadu Department of Archaeology, in collaboration with the Public Works Department (PWD), has initiated conservation and maintenance work at the Vishnu temple, a protected monument located in Ulagapuram near Vanur in Villupuram district. The temple is believed to date back to the 11th century A.D., and the village was then known as Olagamadevipuram. The restoration work, costing ₹33 lakh, includes the provision of a wall with grill fencing, renewal of the weathering course, re-laying of the undulated flooring, repairing the Amman shrine, chemical cleaning, clearing of vegetation, and lighting arrangements.
