The Union government has dismissed CRPF Deputy Inspector General Khajan Singh from service due to sexual misconduct charges raised by women personnel. President of India’s office issued the order effective from May 31 after CRPF served two show-cause notices, approved by the home ministry and UPSC. Singh, denying the allegations, faced charges after a probe found him guilty. He served as CRPF’s chief sports officer and won a silver medal at the 1986 Seoul Asian Games. CRPF, with about 3.25 lakh personnel, first enlisted women in combat ranks in 1986 and currently has six all-female battalions comprising around 8,000 personnel.
