Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26 regarding alleged corruption in the 2021-22 excise policy. The policy, aimed at reforming liquor sales in Delhi, was scrapped following accusations of irregularities and money laundering. Kejriwal was taken into custody after the CBI presented necessary documents to a special court, which allowed the arrest. The policy had been recommended for investigation by Lt Governor V.K. Saxena, leading to a CBI FIR on August 17, 2022, and an Enforcement Directorate case on August 22, 2022.
