A Delhi court has asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to respond by July 1 to Engineer Rashid’s application for interim bail to take oath as a Member of Parliament (MP). Rashid, recently elected after defeating Omar Abdullah, seeks release to fulfill his parliamentary duties. Arrested in 2019 over alleged involvement in a Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, Rashid argues it’s his constitutional duty to take oath. Despite his counsel comparing his situation to AAP leader Sanjay Singh, who was granted custody parole, the judge noted differences in their charges.
