Ather Energy, an Indian electric scooter manufacturer, is accelerating its new model launches and exploring export markets after the government reduced subsidies for electric vehicles (EVs). India’s electric scooter market, while still small, is growing, but the subsidy cut in May caused a sharp drop in sales across the industry. Ather’s CEO, Tarun Mehta, stated that the company is working on two new models, one of which will be launched six months earlier than initially planned. Additionally, Ather aims to have over 50% of its sales come from global markets by the end of the century. The company plans to raise more capital to support its growth initiatives.
