Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on January 17. The interrogation is part of a money laundering investigation related to alleged irregularities in land acquisition in Manesar during 2004-07. The probe focuses on the “illegal” acquisition of land in Haryana’s Manesar, with allegations of connivance by senior government officials and bureaucrats. The ED had initiated the investigation in September 2016 based on a Haryana Police FIR, and several farmers and landowners claimed to have been cheated in the land acquisition case.
