The Osmania University police have booked 31 students from the University of Hyderabad and detained 14 students from the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). The UoH students were charged with conducting an unauthorized rally and violating the Model Code of Conduct. EFLU students began a hunger strike to press their demands for improved safety on campus, reconstitution of the Sensitisation, Prevention, and Redressal of Sexual Harassment committee, and student body elections. The protests followed an alleged sexual assault on October 18, prompting concerns about safety, with faculty members joining the students’ calls for action.
