A tragic bus accident occurred in Odisha’s Jajpur district, claiming the lives of five individuals, including a woman, and injuring around 35 others. The incident took place on Barabati bridge on National Highway-16 as the bus, carrying approximately 47 passengers from Puri to West Bengal, fell off the bridge around 9 p.m. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed condolences and announced a compensation of ₹3 lakh each for the families of the deceased. Transport Commissioner Amitav Thakur stated that injured passengers, including women and children, were being transported to Cuttack for treatment.
