The Madras High Court has expressed skepticism over former special Director General of Police (DGP) Rajesh Das’s request for exemption from surrendering, despite being convicted by a trial court and an appellate court for making sexual advances towards a woman Indian Police Service (IPS) officer.During the hearing of Das’s criminal revision petition challenging his conviction and three-year sentence, Justice M. Dhandapani questioned how Das could seek exemption from surrendering. The conviction was imposed by the Villupuram Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) on June 16, 2023, and confirmed by the Principal District Court on February 12, 2024.
