Germany is initiating a campaign to facilitate employment for Ukrainian and other refugees who now possess a functional grasp of the German language. As the country seeks to address both a shortage of skilled labor and concerns regarding high migration levels, they aim to enhance refugees’ job prospects. Germany has welcomed over a million Ukrainian refugees since Russia’s invasion, granting them immediate residency status. Labor Minister Hubertus Heil reported that 132,000 Ukrainians have already secured jobs, but the government is now intensifying its efforts to help the approximately 400,000 language-proficient refugees find work, while also encouraging them to actively seek employment. Additionally, the government plans to expedite the recognition of foreign job qualifications and promote employer involvement in the integration process.
