Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized GIFT City’s pivotal role as a financial and investment gateway during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. Originating from Prime Minister Modi’s 2007 vision, GIFT City has evolved into a thriving global financial hub, aligning with India’s 2047 development goal. Sitharaman underscored its significance in green technology, advocating for the city to catalyze green credits and foster diverse fintech initiatives. The minister highlighted the burgeoning presence of International Financial Services Centres, showcasing three exchanges, 25 banks, 26 aircraft lessors, 80 fund managers, and 40 fintech entities within GIFT City. She also emphasized India’s ambition to become a shipping manufacturing hub, citing the presence of 8 ship leasing entities in the IFSC.
