Officials from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Tiruchirappalli airport intercepted a passenger arriving from Dubai and seized 977 grams of 24K gold valued at ₹70.58 lakh. The gold was concealed in three packets of paste-like material hidden in the passenger’s rectum. The individual, arriving on an Air India Express flight, has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing. This follows a similar incident in March, where AIU officials seized 410 grams of gold worth ₹26.62 lakh from a passenger arriving from Singapore, concealed in paste-like material and inside the passenger’s vest.
