Google has halted active development on its Material Web Components (MWC), a toolkit for web designers, redirecting its engineers to a different initiative. MWC provided website builders with various design elements based on Google’s Material 3 style, such as buttons and menus. Now in “maintenance mode,” MWC will not receive new features but will continue to function. Former MWC engineers are now working on Wiz, another Google web framework used in key services like Search and Photos. Google aims to merge Wiz with Angular for enhanced performance.
