The Union Government has initiated comprehensive training for police and prison personnel across India on recently enacted criminal laws. Replacing colonial-era legislation, the new laws aim to expedite justice and modernize judicial procedures. Scheduled to take effect from July 1, 2024, these laws emphasize accessibility to justice for all citizens. The Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), has developed training modules for personnel at all levels. States and Union Territories are urged to ensure thorough training for their officials, with the BPR&D offering resources and support. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) is also conducting online sessions to address technical aspects of implementing the new laws.
