Investment firm GQG Partners and State Bank of India Mutual Fund are eyeing a collective investment of up to $800 million in Vodafone Idea’s $2.16 billion share offering. GQG, led by India-born executive Rajiv Jain, plans to invest approximately $500 million, while SBI Mutual Fund is considering an investment ranging from $200 million to $300 million. The share sale aims to support Vodafone Idea’s expansion and alleviate its debt burden. Vodafone Idea, formed through a merger in 2018, faces challenges from competitors Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
