GQG Partners, led by Rajiv Jain, has purchased a 0.8% stake in Bharti Airtel, valued at Rs 5,890 crore, from Singapore-based Singtel. Singtel divested its stake through a block deal, raising S$0.95 billion. Singtel, a long-term investor in Airtel, will retain a 29.0% stake post-transaction, worth S$33 billion. The move aligns with Singtel’s capital strategy and reinforces Airtel’s strong market position amid India’s digital transformation. Meanwhile, GQG Partners, known for its investments, made headlines in India with a significant stake acquisition in Adani Group firms in March 2023. No official statements from Airtel or GQG Partners have been issued regarding the transaction.
