The Gujarat High Court has rejected a state government inquiry report on the Vadodara boat tragedy and mandated a fresh investigation. The court criticized the report for absolving a former civic chief who awarded the lakefront contract to an unqualified firm, where 12 students and two teachers died in a boat capsizing incident earlier this year. Expressing dissatisfaction, the court highlighted discrepancies in the report and demanded an impartial inquiry. The tragedy occurred on January 18 at Motnath lake, leading to scrutiny of decisions made by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) officials.
