Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Guruvayur railway overbridge, bringing an end to the persistent traffic congestion near the railway crossing at Guruvayur. The overbridge aims to alleviate the frequent closures of the railway crossing, which occurred around 30 times daily in the temple town. Addressing the event, CM Vijayan emphasized the Left Democratic Front government’s commitment to state development, citing the overbridge as a response to critics of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and its projects. Public Works Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas announced plans for 72 rail overbridges as part of the level crossing-free State project. The Guruvayur overbridge, funded by KIIFB with ₹24.54 crore, is the first of 10 in the project and was constructed by the Road and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala.
