Haldia Petrochemicals, under The Chatterjee Group (TCG), intends to construct a $10 billion oil-to-chemical project in southern India. Partnering with local and global firms, the project aims to locally manufacture specialty chemicals to enhance profitability. Scheduled for Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, the facility is projected to produce 3.5 million metric tons yearly of ethylene and propylene by 2028-2029. Haldia CEO Navanit Narayan anticipates achieving financial closure by the end of 2024, signaling significant investment in India’s petrochemical sector.
