The Health department issued an alert in Kozhikode following two recent jaundice-related deaths. The deceased hailed from Chekkiad and Kizhakkoth, prompting an increase in patients seeking treatment. Jaundice, mainly caused by Hepatitis A virus, spreads through the faecal-oral route. Symptoms include yellowing of the skin and eyes, vomiting, fever, fatigue, and stomach ache. Improved hygiene and a diet rich in fruits and vegetables are recommended. Concerned individuals can contact the DMO’s office for assistance regarding infectious diseases like jaundice, dengue, and leptospirosis.
