Hitachi Energy, in partnership with Ashok Leyland, is conducting operational tests for a flash-charging solution that allows electric buses to charge within 20 seconds. The testing is underway at two charging stations on the IIT Madras Campus in Chennai. This innovative technology aims to enable buses to charge between stops, reducing overall charging time and allowing buses to carry more passengers due to reduced battery load. The companies are in the final stages of development and plan to localize and scale up the model globally. The initiative is expected to optimize charging time and enhance the efficiency of electric buses in public transport fleets.
