The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised its gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast for India in 2023-2024 to 6.7%, up from the previous estimate of 6.3% in October. The outlook for the financial year 2024-25 has also been increased by 20 basis points to 6.5%. India’s growth is projected to remain strong at 6.5% in both 2024 and 2025, reflecting resilience in domestic demand. The upward revision comes ahead of the 2024-25 interim Budget, where measures to enhance financial stability and growth are anticipated. The report also notes an upgrade in growth projections for emerging and developing Asia, driven by China’s economy.
