The Shree Mandira Parikrama Project (SMPP), a once-in-a-century renovation of Odisha’s Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, is set to be unveiled on January 17. The project, developed at an investment of Rs 943 crore, includes a grand boundary around the temple, green buffer zones, pedestrian paths, and public conveniences. Invitations have been sent to 857 temples in Odisha and 180 major temples in other states for the inauguration. The project is part of the Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture scheme, with a total fund of ₹4,224.22 crore for the transformation of Puri’s infrastructure.
