India’s petroleum minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, has stated that the country is concerned but not worried about the ongoing crisis in the Red Sea. The crisis involves the conflict in Yemen and recent airstrikes by the US and the UK on Houthi targets. The concern is related to the potential impact on trade routes and oil flows. Puri mentioned that India is in constant discussion with relevant stakeholders and expressed confidence that the situation has not reached a point where significant worry is warranted. He noted that other trade routes could be explored if tensions continue. The issue is expected to be discussed during the upcoming India Energy Week 2024.
