India has raised objections to the International Labour Organization (ILO) over its recent employment report, citing inconsistencies in data sets and misinterpretation of youth employment figures. Labour Secretary Sunita Dawra conveyed India’s displeasure, highlighting the lack of collaboration with India and the absence of consultation before the report’s release. The ministry contested the report’s portrayal of youth unemployment, citing differences in survey methods and overlooking international mobility and gig workers. Additionally, it argued that a significant portion of India’s youth population is engaged in education and domestic duties, challenging the label of ‘unemployed’.
