India is initiating the purchase of the inaugural shipment for its latest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, the Chhara terminal, as it seeks to accelerate the adoption of LNG this decade. Gujarat State Petroleum Corp. has issued a tender for a commissioning cargo, scheduled for delivery in April, for the newly developed terminal in Gujarat state. With a capacity to import 5 million tons of LNG annually, the terminal, developed by Hindustan Petroleum Corp., aligns with India’s goal to increase LNG import capacity and raise the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15% by 2030, reducing reliance on coal and oil. Additionally, India is set to commence operations at Swan Energy Ltd.’s Jafrabad import facility this year.
