India has launched the “ASEAN-India Millets Festival” in Jakarta, Indonesia, aiming to create awareness of millets as a sustainable and farmer-friendly food choice. The festival, organized by the Indian Mission to ASEAN and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, includes a millet-centric exhibition featuring Indian farmers, start-ups, and chefs. Millets are considered an essential element for ensuring food security and addressing global hunger and nutrient deficiencies. The event also seeks to create a market for millets and millet-based products among the 10-member ASEAN bloc. The festival includes a live cooking workshop showcasing the culinary potential of millets.
