India is set to launch the India International Maritime Arbitration Centre (IMAC) in Mumbai to enhance its maritime arbitration services. The centre, under the supervision of the Indian Maritime University’s Mumbai Port Campus, will offer dispute resolution services, including mediation, arbitration, and hybrid mechanisms. Funded by the Indian Ports Association (IPA) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), IMAC aims to become a world-class facility comparable to global counterparts like the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA) and the Tokyo Maritime Arbitration Commission (TOMAC). The initiative aims for impartial oversight and governance for fair and equitable dispute resolution processes within the maritime sector.
