IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced that draft rules for the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023, are in preparation and will soon undergo public consultation. He emphasized the simultaneous development of the necessary data architecture for the data protection board. The rules, once approved, will be implemented without extension, a move welcomed by IT companies. Vaishnav also highlighted progress in the semiconductor sector, with seven firms approved for the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme. Additionally, he shared that 80% of 5G deployment equipment is domestically produced, and Indian telecom products are now exported to 72 countries.
