India led the world in net mobile subscription additions during the second quarter of the year, with 7 million new subscribers, according to the Ericsson Mobility Report. China followed with 5 million additions, and the USA with 3 million. Globally, 40 million new subscribers were added during the quarter, with a global mobile subscription penetration rate of 105 percent. The report also noted that there were 1.3 billion 5G subscriptions worldwide by the end of Q2, while 4G subscriptions increased by 11 million, totaling 5.2 billion. Mobile broadband subscriptions grew by approximately 100 million, totaling 7.4 billion, accounting for 88 percent of all mobile subscriptions.
