The Indian spacetech sector is experiencing a significant surge in funding, with $62 million raised in 2023 so far, marking a 60% increase compared to the same period last year. The sector’s funding trajectory has been on the rise, from $35 million between 2010 and 2019 to $112 million in 2022. This growth is attributed to factors such as the success of space missions like Chandrayaan-3 and the Indian government’s support for private companies in the space industry. Small payload-based launch vehicles and satellite-based imaging solutions are among the thriving business models attracting substantial funding. With around 140 registered spacetech startups in the country, investor interest in the sector is on the rise.
